about the art

The dynamic range in Emilie Robinson’s photography and cinematography is quite impressive. The photos can range from encapsulating horror to creating portraits that feel soft and warm. Not only does this come with a dynamic portfolio, but it also provides ample experience working on different projects with different goals in mind. Her ability to adapt on the fly comes from her over 5 years (and counting) of experience in the wedding industry. This was the perfect place for Emilie to refine her skills and work on her problem solving skills. In Emilie’s personal work, she mainly focuses on self portraits and creative portrait work. Many of the self portrait projects are inspired by alter egos, phases of her life, and personal experiences. Some of her favorite parts of working on projects like that are the creative directing, world building, and character development involved in the project.

hi, i’m emilie

My artistic eye is the driving force and foundation of my work. While Studying at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago(SAIC), I was trained to look for moments that satisfy my eye. I often am drawn to creative lighting, symmetry, contrast, and framing as tools to achieve a certain mood or feeling.  I like to play with these ideas in all of my creative work, but specifically in my self portraits. By using myself as a model, I know I can create and achieve a concept exactly how I pictured it. My determination, perfectionism, and creative vision are essential in this process. Having this artistic eye means that my eyes are always peeled; I am looking for something extreme or exciting to capture, something that causes my viewer to be in disbelief, shock, or admiration with the images I create.
